Wishing not wanting.

Sunsets fade to grey when you’re around. You were the painter of my sky but the perspective was all wrong. Give me control, give me your focus, give me anything as long as you’re not mine. My wishes came true but your actions were faked. You spun words like an art; beguiled everyone but the truth became twisted. Anger swells as hearts slow; breath shortens and veins narrow. Give me control, give me your focus, give me anything as long as you’re not mine. I don’t want this picture; this memory of you will blur with time.   Don’t tell me you meant anything; all I have left is my pride and all you can hold is your lies. Take comfort in that thought as you try to sleep tonight. Give me control, give me your focus, give me anything as long as you’re not mine. Count the stars and say goodbye; the night was ours but I’ll paint it right.
